Roman Camp and Relicblade Bone Stalker

Edit Post

I'm looking to finish up the Roman camp before the end of the month, then maybe start the Legate stand, but I've been all over the place these last few weeks. One tent is done, the other has a slightly different style so I'm not sure if I'm going to paint it differently or not.

Case and point, I picked up the new Relicblade plastic box sets and painted a Bone Stalker.

Basing the Polybian Romans

Edit Post

I finally got around to basing my 15mm Polybian era Romans. The cavalry still need shields, and I need to finish a camp and Legate stand still, but after that they're done.

I also got the basing done on my Advanced Heroquest wizard prototype and finished up the Riot Quest MiniCrate I picked up at CaptainCon.

15mm Chinantec Army Shots

Edit Post

I started these 15mm Chinantec the last week of September in preparation for the Fall In! 2025 Triumph! New World Theme Tournament. They were ready for play but I wanted to do a bit more with the bases so I ordered some grass tufts that looked like Mexican Feathergrass last week. After cutting those up and sticking them on there I think I'm good to call them done.

15mm Khazar Bolt Thrower Crew

Edit Post

I've been working on the Night Lords but took an evening this week to paint up my Khazar bolt thrower crew. They're conversions off of some Byzantine crew, I sculpted the headwear, added beards and lengthened the shirts into robes.

15mm Khazar Spearmen

Edit Post

I finished up another quick 15mm side project this week, the remaining eight spearmen for the 15mm Khazar. They won't be much use in the Khazar army, but I use them all in a Tahirid army which reverses the numbers of horse and foot units from Khazar. I'm all for double dipping figure usage, especially when it nets you a different playstyle.

Slavic Light Foot for 15mm Khazar

Edit Post

Painting 15mm always seems to go quick, I finished these 15mm Slavic Light Foot for my Khazar army this week. I'd like to be able to double-dip with this army and play them as Tahirid too in Triumph! so they'll be usable there too.

Hopefully I'll be able to top-coat these guys tomorrow along with a few more Epic formations, then get them based up for a game Saturday. After that I think I'll tackle another four Night Lords.

15mm Triumph! Khazar Decline Army

Edit Post

I managed to finish these up for Fall In! but wanted to clean them up and finish a few more horse bow before I took pictures. I need a few more bases, and I can add six stands of elite calvary and four stands of light infantry, but this is a good place to stop for now.

15mm Khazar Knights and Horsemen

Edit Post

I've fallen behind my schedule slogging through all these horses. They're pretty much down now, so I'm turning my attention to the riders. They got their various leathers basecoated and washed today, I need to highlight those next and then do the clothes, wood and accent colors. This is 31 of my 48 points, so hopefully I'll be able to get through the infantry quicker for the end of October.

15mm American Sabot Bases for Crossfire

Edit Post

I played Crossfire nearly twenty years ago at ConnectiCon '05 and picked up the rulebooks shortly after. They've sat on my shelf since then, until earlier this year when I cracked them open after re-watching some Little Wars TV. Since I had the Americans painted I thought I'd try some sabot bases like I did for my ancients in order to double dip them with Crossfire.

I still need to flock everything. Maybe one of these days I'll put my order in to Scenic Express and get the flocks I'm after to match my mat. In the meantime though they might see some action at our monthly games day in a Crossfire trial with Karl, Destroyer of Breadsticks.

15mm Polybian Roman Allied Cavalry

Edit Post

I finally finished the horses for my 15mm Polybian Roman allied cavalry this week. I still need to do the shields for them, but that's going to involve a conversion as I don't have enough of the two types to split them how I like for easy unit identifcation.

15mm Polybian Roman Shields

Edit Post

I spent this week cleaning, priming and glueing shields on the Triarii, Principes and Extraordinarii. I also painted up the Triarii's shields. I glazed one in the recesses to tone down the shading, not sure if I like it yet. Thoughts? I don't know why I spent so much time on the figures, the shields cover 80% of the detail.

15mm Polybian Roman Principes

Edit Post

I finished up my principes for a game of Triumph! this Saturday. I should be able to get them some bases by then too. I need to start figuring out what I'm going to do for all their shields. I'll probably track down some design and make decals for them.

Edit Post

Back to the Romans! I finished up my Triarii this week and also spent some time putting together bases for everything.

Now I have usable units for Triumph! and can use the figures in a skirmish game as well. Next up is the Principes, cavalry and then I need to figure out the shields. I'm looking at some sort of decal at this point.

15mm Polybian Roman Hastati

Edit Post

I've been slowly painting this Warmaster cottage up over the past month. It's done enough to show off at this point and just needs a clear coat and some flocking.

Warmaster Cottage Warmaster Cottage

I think I started these Romans two weeks ago. They take a bit more time and effort than the WW2 Americans, I think it's the red and metalics. I have their shields yet to do, but I wanted to clear coat them first as the shield covers so much of the figure.
