10k Imperial vs Chaos Mega-battle

Edit Post

We decided to do a mega-battle this past weekend in lieu of the usual slew of games. Due to the weather (and to a bunch of pusses who didn't want to finish the game) we ended up calling it in the third. The Imperials had a chance to win it 2-0 but when that failed we went to points instead of playing another turn. The loss of the Summon Pumilio had the Chaos side up by 700 points. Truly, there has never been such a decisive victory...

The Imperial line's right flank. The left flank. The Chaos line's left flank. and right. Start of Game The Marines move up on the left flank. Thunderbolts straffe an unprotected Chaos retinue, only to be CAPed by a flight of Hellblades. A Feral finds itself stripped of its void shields. The majority of the Marine's air power hammers Chaos' right flank. Subjugators holding the line. The Warlord and Shadowsword manage to break one of the Ferals. The Scouts screen the Vanquishers. Some illegally based bikes advance in front of another retinue. The Land Raiders prepare for action. The Decimators ram some buildings. The Natibus Exterminatore makes its debut. Some Helltalons attempt to CAP a Thunderhawk but can't take it down. The Imperial's right flank advances. The Land Raiders due battle with the Summon Pumilio. The Natibus Exterminatore plays hide and seek with the Deus Malleus. The Land Speeders suffer at the hands of the Iron Warriors. The last Feral pummels the Marine SC as its brother is vaporized by the Deus Malleus.

Subjugators

Edit Post

So I can't post pics yet on what I've been working on these past couple of weeks, so in the mean time here's something I've been wanting to do for awhile, army pics!

All told, this is 10,150 points of Marines which I painted over the past two years (my first Battle Company was an Epicomp 2008 entry). I would have liked to finish them this year but it just wasn't in the cards (in case you're wondering I still want to do 3 THawks, a Reaver and Marauders, along with some rare tank variants "just cause"). So, rather than wait until I paint the tardy 1.5k, I'm cunningly going to distract you with these pics.

First up we have a test AOT (Armored Otter Transport, for all your otter transportation needs...), in a lovely striped gray camouflaged scheme. I think this is what I'm going to go with for my Thunderbolts that I'm starting this week. What do you guys think?

And I finally finished the Warhounds this past week. I brought them down for some gaming Saturday but they didn't make it to the mega battle.

I also managed to put the grass tufts on all of my infantry, bikes and dreads. I'm going to try to finish the tanks this week. I'm holding off on pictures of everything until I get my THawks done.

Another quick update (I'm still recovering from the Cleavage Contest on Saturday at King Richard's Faire...). The hounds are nearly done, I just need to finish the black and the bases. It looks like I'll be painting three nights this week so I think that ought to cover it... :P

Edit Post

Not a whole lot of painting this week, but I got some building done.

These are the Wolf light tanks all built and primed. Not sure why I bothered to take a picture, the "flat" gray primer is rather shiny and shows off none of the detail.

And these are my shiny GZG Jupiter tanks.

And another platoon of CH's infantry.

Command Horizon Infantry

I finally got my magnetic adapters for my air force, so I spent some time getting my TBolts operational for a game on Wednesday. Once I'm done with the hounds I'll start work on these guys.

Thunderbolts

Finally, he's my progress on the hounds. I finished up the blue on lefty this week. I started painting the white on the head armor, but wasn't sure how much to paint white. The War Griffon's scheme has the entire head yellow, should I follow suite and do all white leaving none of the gunmetal details?

More Titans and Titan-Traction

Edit Post

Got another group of eight Command Horizon infantry assembled and built this week. They're ready for basing and priming, hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.

These are T10 Wolf tanks from GZG all set to be based and primed.

I worked on these guys the majority of the week. The blue has its shade, base and first highlight coat down. I should be able to finish their other highlights this week.

Edit Post

The Command Horizon troops and their GZG APCs were finished this week, complete with a gloss/dullcote and the silfor tufts. Two more of these formations to go. :P

Hard Sci-fi

I also finished the Warlord's weapons and base, and named it Deus Malleus (God Hammer). After took this I realized I missed the Mechanicus symbol so I've still got to do that. I'd still like to but some heraldry on him, anyone know a company that prints custom white decals?

Deus Malleus

I started work on the Warhounds this week. The metal is done and one of them has had the base put down for the blue.

Edit Post

Just some work on the Warlord this week. I managed to take some better pictures of it this week thanks to a little indirect lighting. I decided to go with a white faceplate (thought it looked good) and blue armor plating on the weapons. I still have to finish up the black and metal on the weapons, do the Mechanicus symbol and then the base but he's almost done.
